Maybe you’re tearing your hair out, trying to find quality images on a limited budget.
You know that you can’t copy and paste images indiscriminately from anywhere on the internet—you’d probably be breaking copyright laws. So what’s the solution?
Thanks to Digital Impact, here is a listing of websites that offer free photographs that may be suitable. In most cases, the images are free for personal and commercial use, unless you’re selling a product that uses the images.
QR and barcodes
They’re popping up everywhere from packaging to shop windows. Those little black and white patchwork squares aren’t an indicator of a secret society of quilters. They’re QR (Quick Response) codes.
QR codes are similar to the sets of black stripes on products you buy at the supermarket. QR and barcodes are machine-readable labels that contain information about the item, including price.
"Inspiration exists... but it has to find you working". What a thought provoking quote from Pablo Picasso!
Sources of Insight explores such a topic in an article called 'Master Your Craft' "by immersing yourself in your work, you become fully engaged. When you're fully engaged, you find your flow. As you improve your art, you grow your ability. As you grow yourself you grow your job."
I wanted to share a quick guide to the psychology of colour, for clients to consider when starting out on their branding journey.
Certain colours are associated with specific qualities, for example the colour green is usually associated with peace and nature, and red with excitement. However, academic studies on colour and branding have found it is more important for colour to match the personality of your brand, rather than focussing on subjective meanings traditionally attached to colours.
My business cards have just been printed with a technique new to Perth, called Scodix. The burst graphic of my branding has been printed with layers of clear ink. It makes a beautiful tactile focal point.
The black patchwork (QR code) on the card links directly to my online portfolio via a smartphone app. Contact me to find out how to use this technology for your business.
